Misc. Palm Springs Fun

Ok, we've finally arrived at the last of the Palm Springs, Spring Break posts.  Turns out, we had a blast, so there's been lots to post!  The rest are other random fun things we did while we were there.  Enjoy!

This was the first group of bike riders.  We made it almost all the way to Costco to get some supplies before the bike trail ran out and we had to head back empty-handed.  At least the ride was fun!  This was our pit-stop on the way back.

Bike ride #2 was much more successful.  They biked around the golf course at dusk and had a beautiful ride.

ICE CREAM!  Lexi's first try of the stuff and she's sold!  She kept dive-bombing my cone and probably ate as much of it as I did (or at least ended up with that much on her face!).

Apparently sloppy ice-cream eating is hereditary.  Who'd they get it from?

Sidewalk chalk.  The whole group had lots of fun showing off their artistic skills.  Though, for better or for worse, it meant that everyone in the whole place knew all of our names and with how loud we were all week long, I'm not so sure that's a good thing.

"Art" is being used loosely, of course.  We did have a few dead bodies in the mix.

Tunnel fun!  Wow, Syd sure does have some LONG legs!

Skateboarding.  It was so fun to see Libby interact with all her bigger cousins.  She wanted to do everything they were doing and had so much fun just tagging along.

Porter was a great sport helping them ride.

Well, if you couldn't tell, we LOVED spring break!  I'm still convinced that it's the single greatest invention ever made! ;)

Pool Time!

After the hike, we all headed back to the pool for more splashing fun.

 Libby had fun "borrowing" someone else's pool toy which she pretty much took over for the whole time we were there.

Oasis Hiking

When Brad finally got to re-join us on the trip, we all went hiking in the Indian Canyon Oasis area.  Who would have thought you'd find this in the middle of the desert?  So cool!

 Brad, of course, was the first one to climb to the top of anything he could find. 

 Libby liked this little cave she found along the way.

 The scenery was awesome.

 

Lexi was all smiles, too.

On the way back we were up above the oasis instead of in the middle of it.  Pretty cool to have both perspectives.

 After the hike we dipped our feet in the water for a bit.

Libby, of course, ended up getting more than just her feet wet after all was said and done.

After the hike, it was break time with some yummy popsicles at the Indian store - Lexi's treat from her money-egg hunt winnings! :)

 

 

 After the first hike, just Brad, Amy, and I decided to do another trail and hiked a bit longer.  It was beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

 There were a few of these arch-way palms that were really cool.

Dinosaur Museum

While the crazy teenagers opted for shopping at the outlet stores near Palm Springs, Amy and I (the non-shoppers of the group) were more than happy to take the little ones to the Dinosaur Museum instead.  It was a total win-win:  they loved it, and we got out of shopping! ;)

 Inside the museum, the kids got to dig for dinosaur rocks. 

 

 Even little Lexi found one all on her own (along with plenty of scrumptious sand to munch on!).

 They also got to pan for gold.

 And pose with lots of different dinosaurs.

 They sure loved it!

Aren't cousins great?!  What a fun non-shopping experience!  Thanks, Libby and Max for making it so much fun!

Splish Splash and a Chuck Wagon

Our first non-Sabbath day in Palm Springs!

 My official most favorite picture of Libby EVER!  I love it!!!!

 On Monday evening we went on a covered wagon ride up to an oasis, then hiked around and had a great time.

 The whole gang (minus Brad and Mark who had to return to work - booooo!)

 We loved our hike and learned a TON about the desert.

 Then it was back to the tents for some entertainment and grub.  Libby had a blast dancing with her cousins!  We also got the whole family up and doing a partner line dance - it was so fun!

We finished off the night roasting smores and lassoing cattle (well, bales of hay dressed up as cattle!).  What a cool experience in the desert - totally recommend it! 

 

More Easter Fun

 After church it was time for the first of many a delicious meal in my parents' condo.  The famished gang is ready to gorge!

 Last minute touches...but don't let Porter fool you, he just snuck in the picture - he wasn't really helping.

 It looks like Lexi enjoyed her Easter ham!

 We also did our annual (as of last year and this) egg roll contest.  Libby and Max were great partners.

 Then it was time for yet another Easter egg hunt.  This one was the much anticipated Grammy and Pops money-egg hunt.  We were all pretty excited to see if the Macbeth domination would continue...

 A proud find!  (As it should be...the top two prize eggs were worth $20 and $10 each, and little miss Lexi ended up with both!  Yep, it seems the youngest competitor is always the victor.  Good thing for us, we're the only ones still having kids, so it looks like Macbeth domination is here to stay!)

 Getting a little help from your friends is legal, right?

 After the hunts we were planning on going on a hike, but the trail was closed, so we found ourselves at some horse stables instead.  It was a great find and Grammy liked this little shed.  Here she is with all ten of her grandkids.

And what loving father wouldn't like to finish off the night giving his baby some beer?!  (Root, that is!)  What a GREAT Easter!
